Welcome to Friends of Suttons PTA

Welcome to Suttons Primary and welcome to our Parent Teacher Association (PTA). This is one of many ways parents can get more involved in our thriving school community.

Traditionally PTAs are set up by parents to raise money to improve the school environment for our children and the Suttons Primary PTA is no exception. Over the years we have raised many thousands of pounds, which have been spent on improving equipment and facilities in the school.

Support the school
Money raised by the PTA has helped fund new outdoor equipment, computers, music equipment, classroom resources, books and family fun events. We also support Arts and English projects to help raise standards across the school. e.g. artist and author visits. Currently we are working in conjunction with the school to raise funds for a new multi-sport all weather pitch.

Make friends
At Suttons we also believe that our PTA should have another function and that is to bring the children, staff and parents together socially. To this end, we run a number of events ranging from school fayres, Christmas decoration making with pupils, Easter egg hunts and so on.

Later on in the year we will run a number of social events like a disco for children across the school, support the year 6 leaving celebrations and the Summer Fair for the whole family. Most years we try something new, led by ideas from parents: like the Cinema Club.

All these events are organised and run by volunteers. We have a team of about five trustees at the heart of the operation who meet a couple of times a term. Some events are organised by trustees, others such as the Film Night are organised by one or two parents who think it would be a nice thing to do.

Keep in touch
There is an open meeting each term when anyone can turn up to hear what is in the pipeline or suggest new ideas.

After that you can decide how much or how little you want to get involved: maybe you can bake a cake, sell some raffle tickets or help plan the Summer Fair. It is up to you, we hope you will come along and enjoy some events.

The PTA will make yours and your children's time at Suttons that little bit more fun.
