Geography
At Suttons, our Geography intention is to provide opportunities to inspire and give children the knowledge, skills and passion for the world in which they live in.
Our curriculum covers the wider world, as well as their closer surroundings and gives children the opportunity to use a variety of different resources in which to explore and learn more about our world.
We want to equip our pupils with knowledge about our rapidly changing world and the impact they can have on their environment.
Our Geographers
Knowledge:
Geography is taught separately but is linked to our History curriculum. Children are given the opportunity to study a range of human and geographical features, using a range of resources including map work and local field studies. In EYFS through to KS2, children are taught about their local environment through to the wider world around them.
Skills:
Children will develop four main overarching geographical skills during their time at Suttons. These are Geographical Enquiry, Geographical Knowledge, Physical Geography and Human Geography. The children will become better equipped at mapping, observing, recording, measuring, compass use, map use and grid referencing.

Our Geography curriculum at Suttons is bespoke and diverse towards the needs of our children. We ensure different geographical skills are covered and children have the opportunity to explore the world and the environment around them. This equips them for their future learning and the next stages of their geographical journey.
